BEFORE YOU BEGIN

What You Should Know About Our Practice.
Before working together, it’s important to understand that this practice is built around the idea that most of the challenges people face are not isolated incidents. They are patterns. Patterns in how we communicate, how we choose partners, how we respond to stress, how we lead, how we avoid, how we over-function, how we take responsibility for everyone but ourselves, and how we learn to survive environments that were never designed to support us in the first place.
Depending on your goals and your location, our work together may look like therapy or coaching and sometimes it begins with a conversation to figure out which one is the right fit. Therapy focuses on mental health, emotional patterns, relationships, and healing. Coaching focuses more on decision-making, leadership, personal growth, and life transitions. Both draw on the same frameworks and the same commitment to honest, pattern-focused work. If you are not sure which one applies to you, that is completely normal, and we can talk through it together during your consultation.
Because of that, our work together will not just focus on what is happening this week. We will look at patterns across your life, including relationships, family systems, work environments, culture, identity, and the ways these things intersect and influence how you move through the world. Many people try to separate their personal life from their professional life, their family life from their leadership, or their past from their present. But in reality, these areas are always influencing each other. In this practice, we look at how trust shows up across the Principles For Life: Lineage, Leadership, Love, and Legacy. This helps us understand not just what is happening, but why.
This practice is influenced by family systems theory, African psychology, and Buddhist philosophy, which means we talk about behavior and patterns, but we also talk about meaning, responsibility, relationships, and the connection between mind, body, and environment. Some clients also choose to incorporate reflective tools as part of their work, which can help with self-awareness, insight, and decision-making. These tools are always optional and are used to support reflection and self-trust, not to predict outcomes or tell you what to do.
You should also know that this is a space where we can tell the truth without shame, blame, or guilt. Many of the people who come to this practice are used to being the strong one, the responsible one, the peacemaker, or the people pleaser. They are very capable, but they are also very tired. They are often navigating big decisions, relationship changes, cultural expectations, or life transitions, and they are trying to figure out how to build a life that works not just for everyone else, but for them too. If that sounds like you, you will probably feel comfortable here.
This practice is a good fit for people who are open to self-reflection, open to looking at patterns, and open to honest conversations. You do not have to have everything figured out. You do not have to be in crisis. But you do have to be willing to be honest, to be accountable for your choices, and to be open to doing things differently if the way you have been doing them is no longer working.
HOW WE PARTNER
Offerings
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a space to understand your patterns, your decisions, your relationships, and how your experiences have shaped the way you move through the world. This work focuses on building self-awareness, self-trust, and helping you make decisions that are more aligned with the life you are trying to build. Many clients come to individual therapy when they are navigating burnout, life transitions, identity questions, or relationship challenges.
Couples & Family Therapy
Couples and family sessions focus on communication, roles, boundaries, and understanding the patterns that exist within relationships and family systems. For couples, this work explores how trust, communication, and relational patterns are shaping the relationship and what it takes to build something healthier and more sustainable together.
*This is an affirming practice that welcomes LGBTQIA+ couples, intercultural couples, and people in consensually non-monogamous or other nontraditional relationship structures.
Coaching
Coaching focuses on decision-making, leadership, personal growth, and navigating life transitions. Coaching is often a good fit for people who are functioning well in many areas of life but need support with clarity, boundaries, leadership, or major life and career decisions. Coaching is more action-oriented and future-focused while still grounded in self-awareness and pattern recognition.
*Service recommendations are based on your goals, clinical needs, and physical location. Coaching is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
* Insurance participation and eligibility vary by plan, state, and service platform. Coverage must be verified before the first session.
